Interactive Decision Simulation App
PROBLEM
Today's students demand new methods of learning that are engaging, dynamic and realistic. This project focused on developing an interactive experience for business management and accounting undergraduates that could be used by professors in tandem with their more traditional coursework.
APPROACH
Working with stakeholders & users, our team developed the logic and interface for a series of Simulation apps that applied business concepts to real world situations like cost and inventory management. These prototypes were tested with users to validate both product the product concept and usability.

User Research & Website Redesign
PROBLEM
In a changing security market where SSL was becoming commodified, our team engaged with Symantec Web Security to explore a new product positioning and presentation that would highlight the value proposition and utility of their key product portfolio to better connect with customer perceptions and needs.
APPROACH
Our primary research and design strategy focused on understanding how users often struggled to map their own technical needs and usage scenarios to the Symantec offerings, refocusing the design to directly address this gap and help the company more seamlessly provide solutions and serve the customer.

Video Chat & Sharing App
PROBLEM
At the time, video chat was a cumbersome and glitchy experience that was focused more on business use than personal use. Group video chat was rare and users could do little else than talk to each other - severely limiting the overall communal and collaborative experience.
APPROACH
As lead UX / UI designer, the NPL team sought to re-invent the video chat experience to make it more natural and engaging. Taking advantage of a proprietary low-latency tech, the Spin app allowed users to chat, co-view photos & videos in groups of up to 6 simultaneous users in a fun, tactile & simple to use experience.

User Research & Website Redesign
PROBLEM
Cloudera is an undisputed leader in the Hadoop space, but its website lacked a cohesive message that clearly explained the specific value of Big Data and the ways it could be strategically implemented across a range of enterprises -- leaving prospective customers struggling to understand its products and Open Source value proposition.
APPROACH
Through primary research, we engaged with stakeholders, customers and prospects to clarify their understanding and needs for the website in order to develop a site strategy and design that addressed the major business and technical obstacles that often stood in the way of a client starting the process of bringing Big Data to their enterprise.

PROBLEM
In an effort to expand their suite of digital tools, Pearson worked with gotomedia to conduct primary research into the exploration of possible products that would complement their more established offering by addressing needs and scenarios that confront students in todays hybrid / blended learning environments.
APPROACH
Through both user interviews and campus visits, gotomedia uncovered a wide variety of unmet student needs and developed a list of 15 areas of interest -- creating business cases and design concepts for 3 potential products in the areas of virtual internships, student workload management and professor-lead chat.
